A musical sisterhood—borne from a wintery collaboration—blooms, live at the pavilion  

Mindy Meng Wang 王萌 and Sui Zhen are Chinese-Australian composers who started collaborating spontaneously on a cold afternoon in Naarm/Melbourne. 

Their debut record Origin of You weaves together genres of experimental electronic, ambient, and vocals, centring on the evolving journey of identity and self-discovery—coming to terms with who we are, where we’re from, and where we’re going.  It is about birth, life and death. And it’s about transformation from daughter to woman, woman to mother, outsider to friend.   

This collaborative process has proved to be much more than a project. Their record—and the way the friends connect with each other on stage—is a living testament and musical score to impulsive bonds that can last a lifetime.
