A violinist and a composer team up to paint the pavilion with multi-layered landscapes of sound

Xani Kolac is a maestro of psychedelic violin. Her music spans everything from jazz and art-rock to chamber music and soaring pop. But the common thread is her wild ways on the electric fiddle. She often plays hypnotic passages, then loops and manipulates them until they lift off into space. It’s an infectious, joyous energy. And she’s teaming up with award-winning composer and sound designer Kelly Ryall to create a new piece, fit for MPavilion. It’s going to be an experiential, improvised performance that’ll echo off the pavilion’s internal geometries and make kaleidoscopic new sound-shapes.
