A dancer and a designer summon a river monster into the pavilion

From the depths of the Birrarung’s murk, a creature stirs—a strange, glistening entity, part tendons, part circuitry, a newly born hybrid being curious to inhabit the body of water that has surfaced at MPavilion.

Amber McCartney is a dancer who animates augmented bodies and abject fantasies. Jaxon Stickler is a designer and artist whose voluminous, ethereal garments sometimes seem drawn, directly from the earth’s crust. Together, they join forces for Untitled (Drip)—a new work about a river monster emerging from the Birrarung. This real-time choreographic experience features an improvisational score that feeds off audience and architectural energy.

Join as this sleek, otherworldly being explores the pavilion’s concrete surfaces and claims its newfound territory.
