What does it mean to be purposeful? Does it mean growing in a particular way? Does it mean silencing less helpful parts of ourselves (or others)?
Springing from the human need to question purpose, meaning and direction, this talk will consider the idea of growth through three different lenses: Existentialism, Capitalism, and Consciousness. Grounding the discussion in existential philosophy, facilitator Aleks Hammo will examine the way young people in Melbourne are socialised to evaluate themselves in terms of their capacity for growth, and explore the ways meditation and various understandings of consciousness/free-will can aid authentic and meaningful growth.
