We understand and agree on the mood of different types of music, how they make us feel and how mood can influence our musical preferences—but how, and why?

Dig a little deeper into music’s emotional core with this Melbourne Music Week panel, featuring experts on the psychology of music Dr Amanda Krause and Dr Nikki Ricard; researcher into technology and wellbeing Dr Greg Wadely, and music supervisor Jemma Burns, moderated by 3RRR’s Simon Winkler.

This event is curated and produced by Jessie French in collaboration with the City of Melbourne.

Wominjeka (Welcome). We acknowledge the Yaluk-ut Weelam as the traditional custodians of the land on which we meet. Yaluk-ut Weelam means ‘people of the river camp’ and is connected with the coastal land at the head of Port Phillip Bay, extending from the Werribee River to Mordialloc. The Yaluk-ut Weelam are part of the Boon Wurrung, one of the five major language groups of the greater Kulin Nation. We pay our respects to the land, their ancestors and their elders—past, present and to the future.
