Older women who find themselves at risk of homelessness can live with housing insecurity for many years. However, because they have not yet reached crisis point they are unable to access many homeless services. These women are invisible to, and often overlooked by, a system focused on housing the already homeless. This conversation will tell the stories of women who find themselves in this situation.

Architects Samantha Donnelly and Sophie Dyring asked women with lived experience of homelessness what housing and home meant to them. They asked how housing enables or prevents certain outcomes and what makes a home for an older woman? Inscribed fragments of their stories and circumstances are presented on the series of banners installed at the MPavilion that reflect women’s work to create comfort and privacy in their homes. Join us to discuss the installation and help us make these women’s stories visible.
