Join our brains trust to help re-centre nature and improve neighbourhood health
When it comes to public health, the way we plan and design our neighbourhoods matters. So, for the first time, Urban Design Forum, the Australian Institute of Landscape Architects, and VicHealth, are coming together to help strengthen connections between the public health and built environment professions. Three public health experts —Jenny Veitch, Professor within the Institute for Physical Activity and Nutrition (IPAN) at Deakin University, Georgina de Beaujeu from Deakin and Tract Consulting, and Professor Hannah Badland, Director of the Social Equity Research Centre, RMIT University—will present their research as a primer for a long-table workshop in the pavilion.
Then, attendees will be given prompts to help develop strategies for maximising connections with natural systems in built environments. There’ll also be finger food from indigenous-owned Mabu Mabu, champions of native ingredients, to help fuel all your ideas. It’s really all about turning talk into action, with all discussion outcomes being documented, shaped into a collective advocacy position and shared with participants.
