A hip hop dance experience designed to help you take life less seriously, even if it’s just for the hour

Groove Therapy was born from conversations with people who wished they could dance but found the idea of stepping into a dance studio a bit daunting. They pump the bass and foster a safe space to learn some new party moves, made by and for the dance floor.

The sessions are led by teachers who’ve travelled the world as professional dancers but know how to help beginners let go and have fun with it. In this class they’re focusing on basic moves that fall under the hip hop umbrella. Get into the fundamentals behind the body roll, the wave, a moonwalk, the Charleston and the running man. Learn about the history and context—how these dances have often filtered down from pop culture and into our bodies. Feel a bit of levity and looseness as the morning light warms the pavilion.

Please wear comfortable clothing and enclosed sneakers.

Wominjeka (Welcome). We acknowledge the people of the Eastern Kulin Nation as the Traditional Custodians of the land on which MPavilion stands. We pay our respects to their Elders, past and present – and recognise they have been creating, telling stories and caring for Country for thousands of generations.
