“Making buildings that are like instruments is very important to me. The buildings respond to the light, to air movements, to prospect, to refuge, to comfort. They work like instruments that produce the sound and the colour of the composer. But, I am not the composer. I just make the instruments. The light, the sound and the air are already there. I just make buildings that allow people to sense them.”
– Glenn Murcutt AO
At the start of the MPavilion season, we were joined by our 2019 architect Glenn Murcutt AO for a special edition of our podcast.
Glenn Murcutt AO spoke with Triple R broadcasters Lauren Taylor and Simon Winkler, while sitting inside his newly completed pavilion. In this podcast, Glenn explains in poetic detail his design for the 2019 edition of MPavilion. We hear how the surrounding park breathes into this seasonal structure, and how all his works are is in deep dialogue with their environment. We also learn more about the origins of his keen observational skills and work ethic, instilled in childhood.
Join us to listen in to this wide ranging conversation that touches on experimentation, creativity, discipline and design.
