A modern guzheng pioneer reshapes traditions, live at the pavilion

Mindy Meng Wang 王萌 is a visionary Chinese-Australian composer and world-class modern guzheng player. Her work seamlessly bridges traditional and contemporary practices, introducing the ancient Chinese horizontal harp into diverse Western genres, including experimental, jazz, classical, electronic, and improvisation.

Born and trained in China, Mindy studied western musicology in the UK before emigrating to Australia. Since then, her extraordinary versatility as an artist has led her to collaborate with a wide range of artists including Gorillaz, Regurgitator, Tim Shiel, Paul Grabowsky and Deborah Cheetham Fraillon AO, among others.

Mindy’s long-term vision is to create a strong voice for young female composers and artists of Chinese heritage, while fostering a deeper and reciprocal musical connection between Australia and China.

Her sound is captivating and cinematic, weaving together the old and the new to create something truly unique. Don’t miss this intimate open-air set in the serene surrounds of Tadao Ando’s MPavilion.

Please note this event will now be a solo performance.

Free entry, we will have umbrellas on hand in case of evening showers.
