Learn about the use of tactile storybooks that encourage tactile literacy skills in children who are blind or have low vision. Monash University’s SensiLab will teach you the basics of e-textiles: how to sew your own simple circuits in a tactile illustration of your design. Bring along your bright ideas about fun ways to teach concepts such as “big”, “small”, “up”, “down”, “square” and “round” in simple storybook pages.

Booking is required.

This event is part of the MPavilion STEM program in partnership with Office for Women.

Wominjeka (Welcome). We acknowledge the Yaluk-ut Weelam as the traditional custodians of the land on which we meet. Yaluk-ut Weelam means ‘people of the river camp’ and is connected with the coastal land at the head of Port Phillip Bay, extending from the Werribee River to Mordialloc. The Yaluk-ut Weelam are part of the Boon Wurrung, one of the five major language groups of the greater Kulin Nation. We pay our respects to the land, their ancestors and their elders—past, present and to the future.
