Purpose

We are committed to protecting your privacy and complying with the requirements under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) (the Privacy Act) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) contained in the Privacy Act.

Scope

This Privacy Policy sets out how we collect, use, hold and disclose your Personal Information.

It applies to individuals who visit, attend or engage with the Naomi Milgrom Foundation and its key initiatives including MPavilion, Living Cites Forum and the Richmond Power Station. This includes engagement via our websites, application sites or through other direct correspondence.

 

What is Personal Information and why do we collect it?

Personal Information is information or an opinion that identifies an individual. Personal Information we may collect include your name, address, location, email and other contact details, information regarding events attended or participated in and billing/financial information (such as credit card details).

We generally collect your Personal Information directly from you, whether in person, in writing (email or physical mail), by telephone, by social media, or through our websites, when you make an enquiry, book a ticket, enter a competition or ballot, submit an application or complete a survey.

We collect your Personal Information to help us deliver our events and services, better understand our audiences, and monitor and improve our programs, websites, and content. When we collect Personal Information, where appropriate and possible, we will explain to you why we are collecting the information and how we plan to use it.

 

Sensitive Information

Sensitive information is defined in the Privacy Act to include information or opinions about such things as an individual’s racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, religious or philosophical beliefs or health information. We might ask for sensitive information about you, but only when it is necessary and relevant. For example, if you are participating in audience research or applying to take part of one of our programs. Sensitive information is not shared with external parties and we will always ask for your consent when we request this information.

 

Engaging with Us Online  

The Naomi Milgrom Foundation may collect personal information that you email to us or provide when using social media or our websites.

While we cannot ensure the security of information transmitted over the internet, once we receive your personal information, we will take reasonable steps to protect it from misuse, loss, interference, unauthorized access, modification, or disclosure.

Our websites may contain links to third party websites and this Policy does not apply to the use of, or the protection of information provided to those websites. It is recommended that the privacy policies of those third-party websites, including social media sites, are reviewed before you disclose any Personal Information to them.

Our websites utilise remarketing services including cookies and pixels to provide you with a more efficient and relevant experience. Cookies are small pieces of information sent by a web server and stored by your browser on your computer’s hard drive so it can later be read back from that browser.

Cookies identify the computer, not the identity of the individual user. We may use cookies for various reasons, including to:

  • recognise a computer that has visited our websites before
  • customise your experience
  • provide you with information and marketing about Naomi Milgrom Foundation programs when you visit other websites or apps, such as social media.

In using cookies, we do not record any personal information, collect names, or details of commercial transactions.

The Foundation also utilises Google Analytics to gather anonymous statistical data on how many people are using our sites, their approximate location, and for what pages of our websites have been accessed.

You may configure your device so that cookies are disabled; this may limit the full function and user experience of our websites.

Direct Marketing

We may collect your Personal Information for the purposes of direct marketing communications such as opting into receiving email or SMS from us, in accordance with applicable marketing laws, such as the Spam Act 2003 (Cth).  Where we collect your Personal Information, we will give you the opportunity to opt out of receiving further marketing communications at any time by clicking on the unsubscribe link or by contacting us on info@naomimilgromfoundation.org

We do not provide your personal information to other organisations for the purposes of direct marketing without your direct consent. 

Engaging with us on site

While visiting our sites including MPavilion at Queen Victoria Gardens, we may gather anonymous statistical data including via on-site people counters. This data is anonymous and assists us in planning our venue capacity, assessing peak times and allowing for a more accurate count of our visitation and foot traffic.

 

Third Parties

The Naomi Milgrom Foundation does not sell or share your personal information for commercial gain. But sometimes we do need to share information with carefully selected organisations, contractors and suppliers to help us safely collect, store, and manage information and data. This may include ticketing providers, web hosting providers, IT systems administrators, survey providers or event management platforms.

Where reasonable and practicable to do so, we will collect your Personal Information only from you. However, in some circumstances we may be provided with information by third parties. In such a case we will take reasonable steps to ensure that you are made aware of the information provided to us by the third party. 

Security of Personal Information

Your Personal Information is stored in a manner that reasonably protects it from misuse and loss and from unauthorized access, modification or disclosure.

When your Personal Information is no longer needed for the purpose for which it was obtained, we will take reasonable steps to destroy or permanently de-identify your Personal Information.

 

Disclosure of Personal Information

Your Personal Information may be disclosed in a number of circumstances including the following:

  • Third parties where you consent to the use or disclosure; and
  • Where required or authorised by law.

 

Access to your Personal Information

You may access the Personal Information we hold about you and to update and/or correct it, subject to certain exceptions. If you wish to access your Personal Information, please contact us in writing. In order to protect your Personal Information we may require identification from you before releasing the requested information.

 

Maintaining the Quality of your Personal Information

It is important to us that your Personal Information is up to date. We will take reasonable steps to make sure that your Personal Information is accurate, complete and up-to-date. If you find that the information we have is not up to date or is inaccurate, please advise us as soon as practicable so we can update our records.
