Kara Baker

Couturière Kara Baker’s commitment to the hand-crafted, the authentic and the seriously one-off ensures a loyal following to her eponymous label. Seasonal collections inspired by the timeless sensibilities of haute bohemian and 60s chic are made from her assemblage of vintage (dead stock) European fine cottons, linens, wools and silks. Sold by appointment only to private ‘fashion literate’ clients, Baker has breathed new life into the traditional Parisian salon experience. Each garment is made to measure after one or more fittings at her glamorous city atelier, ensuring the wearer conveys a message of elegance, effortless ease and individuality.

Wominjeka (Welcome). We acknowledge the Yaluk-ut Weelam as the traditional custodians of the land on which we meet. Yaluk-ut Weelam means ‘people of the river camp’ and is connected with the coastal land at the head of Port Phillip Bay, extending from the Werribee River to Mordialloc. The Yaluk-ut Weelam are part of the Boon Wurrung, one of the five major language groups of the greater Kulin Nation. We pay our respects to the land, their ancestors and their elders—past, present and to the future.
