David Harland

David Harland is chief executive for Eden Project International. David joined Eden Project Cornwall in early 2013 as finance director, becoming one of the two joint executive directors from September 2013, before leading the International team from its conception in 2014 through projects across the world including China, Australia, USA and the Middle East. Following approaches from all over the world, David has been leading Eden’s expansion within the UK with the first new site expected to be in Morecambe, Lancashire.

David has also previously held finance related positions with EWS International Railways, as finance director with Enara Group and in a senior financial capacity with Priory Healthcare. Relating to Eden’s expansion internationally, David says, “Our mission is about connecting people to the natural world and demonstrating our interdependence upon it… As such, the transformative impact of taking an old clay pit, as a symbol of regeneration, has led to huge success in Cornwall. With that, we could either shout from a hole in Cornwall or we could go out and drive the mission across the globe. We chose the latter.”

Wominjeka (Welcome). We acknowledge the Yaluk-ut Weelam as the traditional custodians of the land on which we meet. Yaluk-ut Weelam means ‘people of the river camp’ and is connected with the coastal land at the head of Port Phillip Bay, extending from the Werribee River to Mordialloc. The Yaluk-ut Weelam are part of the Boon Wurrung, one of the five major language groups of the greater Kulin Nation. We pay our respects to the land, their ancestors and their elders—past, present and to the future.
