The ‘missing middle’ is a growing issue in Melbourne. Inner city development continues to provide the bulk of infill housing supply, with greenfield development providing a number of new communities on our urban fringe. The missing middle is the forgotten portion of our cities, where large blocks and single family homes dominate the urban fabric. This land is often well located, well serviced by shops, parks and schools and is seldom developed.
Join the Planning Institute of Australia, Australian Institute of Architects and Australian Institute of Landscape Architects as we seek to understand the many issues that the missing middle faces, including policy, design, density, affordability and nimbyism.
